With the CBC reeling from Stephen Harper’s willful neglect, the recession and decisions by his hand-picked President, the Prime Minister’s true agenda for Canada’s public broadcaster is coming out from the shadows.

Stephen Harper has never liked the CBC; he’d like to commercialize or sell it altogether:

In the past weeks, the Conservatives have:

- Reduced CBC’s budget by $63 million in their spending plan for the coming year – that’s $75 million with inflation,

- Decided that CBC will get no help to weather the recession amid reports that the government plans to bail out private broadcasters, and

- Demanded that CBC fulfill its mandate knowing full well it lacks the resources to do so.

CBC is facing a $200 million shortfall. Unless we act by building a grassroots movement of support, this could be the end of Canada’s public broadcaster as we know it.

Please take action by joining this group, then sending a message to Stephen Harper urging him to properly fund the CBC:
